FLI's Core Values for Social Justice

Values
Leadership:
As FLI community members, we help others grow by doing what is right, even when others are doing wrong. We look for ways to improve things, even when others are comfortable with the way things are.

Compassion:
As FLI community members, we make others feel welcome and good about themselves and never hurt each other physically or emotionally. We put ourselves in other’s shoes so that we may/are able to.”

Respect:
As FLI community members, we understand that every living person has value, and accept others who have different appearances, customs, and beliefs from our own. We value other people's right to make responsible decisions, even if we do not agree with them.

Responsibility:
As FLI community members, we believe we have the choice to make good decisions or bad decisions, and never blame others for the choices we make. We accept the consequences that come from making bad choices. We learn from mistakes so as not to repeat them.

Effort:
As FLI community members, we take initiative and look for opportunities to improve ourselves and our community. We are always willing to try new things, even when we know they will be hard for us to do.

Truth:
As FLI community members, we believe that by being honest about our own actions and experiences, we help ourselves grow. We understand that being honest with one another allows us to trust one another.
